The dismembered corpse found rotting in singer D4vd’s abandoned Tesla in California was identified as a teenage girl, Los Angeles authorities confirmed on Tuesday, September 16.
The female victim, whose identity wasn’t announced pending her family’s notification, was between 14 and 15 years old, sources told ABC 7.
The teen, standing at 5 feet 2 inches, was previously described as having wavy black hair and weighing around 71 pounds, roughly 20 pounds less than an average girl of her stature should weigh.
She was found wearing a tube top with black leggings and a yellow bracelet with similar metal stud earrings. She also had a tattoo on her right index finger that read “Shhh…”
Her body was wrapped in plastic and locked in the Tesla’s trunk, where her corpse had been for at least five days. The body was so badly decomposed that it wasn’t fully intact and was first reported to authorities because the car itself started to emit a “foul odor.”
D4vd, whose legal name is David Anthony Burke, found himself at the center of the gruesome discovery after authorities linked the impounded, Texas-plated Tesla back to him.
Burke has been cooperating with police as he continues his world tour.
When the body was first uncovered in the car, Burke was preparing for a performance in Minneapolis and had been sharing consistent posts with his 2 million followers on Instagram.
Despite the 20-year-old’s apparent willingness to work with authorities, his career took a harsh hit in the wake of the mystery.
He was dropped by Crocs and Hollister mere days after they both announced him as the face of their “Dream Drop” collaboration.
The product images that Burke modeled for were all released, but his face was cropped out.
