President Bola Tinubu on Sunday arrived in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, to participate in the 2026 Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week.

The presidential aircraft landed at Zayed International Airport at about 11:30 pm local time, where he was received by the UAE Minister of State in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Sheikh Shakhboot Nahyan Al Nahyan.

The visit follows an official invitation from the President of the UAE, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week is an annual global platform that convenes world leaders, industry experts and civil society organisations to deliberate on pressing issues related to energy innovation and the financial frameworks needed to drive renewable energy transitions.

In an earlier statement, the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, said the visit reflects the deepening relationship between Nigeria and the UAE, particularly in the areas of green energy development and economic cooperation.

He noted that President Tinubu is expected to use the summit to position Nigeria as a major player in sustainable development, while attracting foreign investment and strengthening partnerships that support the country’s national development agenda.

The 2026 edition of the summit, themed “The Nexus of Next: All Systems Go,” is focused on translating climate ambitions into concrete action through three key pillars: innovation, finance and people.
