President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is reportedly scheduled to travel to Mecca, Saudi Arabia, on Thursday, October 29, for a six-day visit expected to end on November 3.
Reports claim his delegation will include five governors, two ministers, the Chief of Staff, National Security Adviser (NSA), and several business leaders.
However, the Presidency has yet to officially confirm the trip, its purpose, or the full list of delegates.
The reported visit comes amid security concerns in the region, including alleged Houthi attacks on Saudi facilities, and follows reports that the Saudi investment summit popularly known as “Davos in the Desert” was recently canceled over security fears.
The lack of official information has also revived speculation that the trip could be linked to a private medical visit, although there is no evidence to support the claim.
Health rumors have followed many of Tinubu’s overseas trips over the years, including visits to London and France before and after the 2023 presidential election.
The Presidency has consistently denied claims that the President travels abroad for medical treatment, insisting his trips are for official duties, diplomatic engagements, private visits, or working vacations.
With the reported Saudi trip generating fresh public interest, many Nigerians are awaiting an official statement from Aso Rock to clarify the purpose of the visit.
